Last night I had the AMAZING chance to speak to a mother of a little boy whom was born with a lung defect. She had entered him in our deserving person contest and it really captured my heart because of my own daughter and her birth gift. This little boy has beaten so many odd that were stacked against him and at just 4 years old, know he wants to grow up to be a fireman. Well with the help of some amazing people I get to do a photoshoot for this little man at a firehouse!

The boys mama said something to me last night that made my heart swell. She said that I am "really getting out there with the community" this is something I think a lot of people have lost touch with. People have been so focused on how much they can charge because their work is good but also forget some people, like this little man are going through more than any of us and need a pick me up from time to time. Sometimes building decent relationships can hinder your business because everyone wants something for free but other times it can help because you put yourself in a spot where these people appreciate you enough to know you can not do EVERYTHING for free, love your work enough to want to come back again and again all while spreading your name around town getting you other potential clients. Word of mouth is some of the most powerful advertising anyone can get. you can pay for advertising all you want but if you don't make a good impression on clients or potential clients, your money will most likely be wasted.

My ultimate goal is to build a lasting business not one that just dwindles out like some others have. I want to give people amazing portraits that they don't just post of fb but also hang on their walls. I hope by all of the giveaways I have done in the past and the ones I will do in the future will help bring people to me for more special shoots like this little man and the senior portraits I get to do the next week for a teen who has been through more than most of us will ever know. So while we are all out there trying to make a buck or two, remember though things might be rough on you from time to time, doing something genuine for some people who have it worse is some of the most amazing medicine that can lift your own spirits and make a difference in someone else's life.
